Samsung recently discontinued the Galaxy Z TriFold, its pioneering double-folding smartphone, after a brief three-month availability in Korea. Despite this, the company appears committed to the form factor and is already developing its successor.

According to a source in Korea, the next-generation model—tentatively called the Galaxy Z TriFold 2—is expected to launch in mid-2027. This new version will be thinner and lighter than the original, measuring only slightly thicker than the Galaxy Z Fold7, which is 8.9mm thick when folded. By comparison, the first TriFold was considerably thicker at 12.9mm when folded, marking a significant reduction in bulk.

Additionally, Samsung is developing its first sliding-screen smartphone prototype, potentially named the Galaxy Z Slide. This innovative device may debut in late 2027 or early 2028, pending successful development.
