Samsung has announced a significant milestone in the development of the future 6G network, having successfully completed testing of a vital technology. Beyond its smartphone innovations, Samsung is actively engaged in research and development in telecommunications networking equipment.

In collaboration with KT Corporation, Samsung conducted a successful test of eXtreme multiple-input multiple-output (X-MIMO) technology in the 7GHz band, achieving an impressive peak download speed of 3Gbps. This was made possible using an ultra-high-density antenna system that incorporates four times the number of antennas without increasing the equipment's physical size, which remains comparable to previous generations.
X-MIMO is poised to be the cornerstone of 6G networks, as the 7GHz band represents a promising solution for balancing capacity and coverage within the millimeter wave spectrum.
During the testing, researchers successfully streamed eight data streams from a base station to a user device, leveraging KT's expertise to replicate realistic outdoor network conditions.
While the journey towards 6G is still in its infancy, Samsung is positioning itself as a leader in the development of this next-generation mobile network.
