Samsung Advances 6G Network Development with Breakthrough Testing

Source: Date:

Samsung has announced the successful completion of testing a pivotal technology for the future of 6G networks. Although widely recognized for its smartphones, Samsung is also a key player in the research and development of telecommunications networking equipment.

Samsung takes a big step forward in 6G network development

In collaboration with KT Corporation, Samsung tested the eXtreme multiple-input multiple-output (X-MIMO) technology in the 7GHz band, achieving an impressive peak download speed of 3Gbps. This was made possible through an ultra-high-density antenna system that features four times the number of antennas while maintaining a physical size comparable to previous generations.

X-MIMO is regarded as foundational for 6G networks due to the advantages offered by the 7GHz band, which effectively balances capacity and coverage within the millimeter wave spectrum.

The research team successfully streamed eight data streams from the base station to a user device, leveraging KT's expertise to simulate real-world outdoor network conditions.

While the journey to 6G is still in its early stages, Samsung is undoubtedly positioning itself as a leader in the advancement of next-generation mobile networks.
