Volvo Launches EX30 Black Edition in the UK: A Bold Electrifying Compact SUV

Volvo is giving its smallest electric car a striking makeover. The Swedish automaker has introduced the Volvo EX30 Black Edition in the United Kingdom. This new iteration of the popular compact SUV replaces bright chrome with a deep, dark aesthetic that's hard to overlook. Although the car's size is compact, it makes a significant statement with its "all-black everything" theme.

The exterior design of the Black Edition revolves around the color Onyx Black. Almost every component of the vehicle is adorned in this metallic hue, which sparkles in daylight while presenting a stealthy silhouette at night. The high-gloss black finish envelops the front grille logo, the "Volvo" lettering on the rear, and the model name badge. Even the 19-inch alloy wheels and roof spoiler sport the dark shade. If you ever wanted an electric car that looks like it belongs in a spy movie, this is a compelling option.

Inside, the dark theme continues with a unique "Indigo" interior. Designers have utilized deep blue textile materials alongside a distinctive trim made from upcycled denim, offering a sporty look exclusive to this model. Safety remains a top priority for Volvo. The Black Edition is equipped with five radars, five cameras, and twelve ultrasonic sensors. These integral systems continuously monitor the road to assist the driver in avoiding accidents. The vehicle also features adaptive cruise control, which maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, as well as a powered tailgate for convenient access when hands are full.

Measuring only 4,233 mm in length and 1,837 mm in width, the EX30 is easy to navigate and park in tight urban spaces. However, its compact design results in a modest trunk capacity, offering 318 l of storage with the seats up. By folding down the rear seats, this space expands to 904 l. Additionally, there is a small "frunk" under the hood, which at 7 l is adequate for a charging cable or a tiny bag.

The Black Edition enhances the growing lineup of dark-themed Volvos, which includes the larger EX60 and EX90. The timing is particularly opportune, as the EX30 ranked as the tenth most popular battery electric vehicle in the UK during 2025. Prices for this stylish version start at approximately €46,970 for the Plus trim, reaching up to €53,780 for the Twin Motor Performance variant. Although it is not the most affordable option, it offers a wealth of technology and speed in a package that finally reflects its exhilarating performance.
