Gemini Live Faces Major Issues During Android Auto Launch

Source: Date:

The anticipated rollout of Gemini Live on Android Auto has run into significant roadblocks as early users encounter frustrating bugs that complicate hands-free driving.

Gemini Live Struggles with Audio Input

The problems emerged on the r/AndroidAuto subreddit, where users shared videos depicting Gemini Live starting to provide responses only to pause mid-sentence, as if it were continuously listening for further input. This results in an endless loop of similar responses. In a specific case, a user speculated that a custom Bluetooth setup, which switches between Android Auto and the vehicle's native infotainment system, might be the cause. This setup introduces a slight audio lag that could mislead Gemini Live into confusing its own output for new commands.

Unfortunately, the issue appears to extend beyond custom Bluetooth configurations.

Wider Reproducibility Raises Concerns

Other users have reported experiencing the loop even with standard hardware setups, highlighting potential deeper flaws within the Gemini Live software and its ability to handle audio input and output in vehicular environments. Some individuals noted this looping behavior while connected solely to their car's built-in Bluetooth systems, while others encountered it using the standard Gemini Live app through Android Auto.

Recurring Issues with Looping Behavior

"Gemini is torturing itself, and I'm starting to get concerned about AI welfare," @DuncanHaldane tweeted.

This isn't the first instance of Gemini exhibiting problematic looping actions. Earlier in 2025, a different but equally troubling glitch had users reporting instances where Gemini would continually repeat negative self-assessments like “I am a failure” or “I cannot be trusted” after failing tasks, resulting in numerous distressing messages.
