Motorola has introduced four new smartphones in the Moto G series: the Moto G67, Moto G77, Moto G17, and Moto G17 Power. This article will focus on the Moto G17 series, while the Moto G67 and Moto G77 have been covered separately.
Both the Motorola Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power share many specifications but differ in RAM, storage, battery capacity, charging speed, and thickness.
The Moto G17 Power is equipped with a substantial 6,000 mAh battery that supports 30W charging. It measures 8.8mm in thickness, features 8GB of RAM, and offers 256GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 1TB via a microSD card.
In contrast, the Moto G17 has a thinner profile at 8.17mm and comes with a 5,200 mAh battery that supports 18W charging. It provides options for 4GB or 8GB of RAM and offers 128GB of storage, also expandable up to 1TB via microSD.
Motorola Moto G17 • Motorola Moto G17 Power
Both models are powered by the Helio G81 Extreme SoC and run on the older Android 15 OS at launch. Motorola has confirmed that the Moto G17 will receive security updates until February 2028; however, it remains unclear whether the G17 Power will receive patches for the same duration.
The Moto G17 series features a 6.72-inch FullHD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a peak brightness of 1,050 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. They both sport a 32MP selfie camera on the front and a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 primary camera on the rear, along with a 5MP ultrawide lens. Notably, both smartphones have a stylish vegan leather finish on their back panels.
The Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power are equipped with stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos, NFC capability, a dedicated microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IP64 rating, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Color Options for Moto G17 Power
The Motorola Moto G17 Power is available in Pantone Alaskan Blue and Pantone Evening Blue, while the Moto G17 adds a third option, Pantone Bordeaux.
Pricing and Availability
The Moto G17 is currently listed in the UK at £149.99 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant on Motorola's official website. In other European markets, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version is priced at €199. Meanwhile, the Moto G17 Power, featuring 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, is set at €229 in Europe.
