Sony's Upcoming Audio Launch: New LinkBuds Expected Next Week

Source: Date:

Sony is set to host an audio product launch event on January 21, where we anticipate the unveiling of the next-generation LinkBuds earbuds rather than the much-anticipated WF-1000XM6 flagship model. The event will begin at 4 PM UTC (8 AM PST) and will be livestreamed on YouTube.

The teaser effectively obscures the product's design; however, we can see that the earbuds are located around the model's ear in the thumbnail.

Additionally, the tagline “Discover a new form of listening” suggests that the earbuds will feature a design that deviates from the conventional in-ear style.

According to findings by Dealabs, Sony is likely to introduce the LinkBuds Clip (WF-LC900), which presents an open-ear design that secures the buds around the earlobe. An Indonesian retailer listing has revealed details about the design and specifications, indicating that the LinkBuds Clip will include adaptive volume control, 360 Reality Audio support, and the background music effect seen in previous LinkBuds releases.

The technical specifications also hint at dual microphones, AI noise reduction capabilities for calls, and bone conduction sensors. Users can expect 10-band EQ customization within the Sony app, the ability to connect to two devices simultaneously, and an IPX4 splash-proof rating.

LinkBuds Clip Teasers

The LinkBuds Clip will be released in four colors: Black, Beige, Sage, and Lavender, with an expected retail price of $230/€200.

As for the flagship WF-1000XM6, rumors suggest that these will be announced at a later date in February.
