MediaTek has officially launched its new flagship mobile chipset, the Dimensity 9500s, following the introduction of its predecessor, the Dimensity 9500, in September of last year. Alongside this launch, the company has also unveiled the mid-range Dimensity 8500 chipset.
Similar to the Dimensity 9500, the new octa-core 9500s features an ‘All Big Core’ architecture and is manufactured using an advanced 3nm process.
MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

The Dimensity 9500s is equipped with a primary Arm Cortex-X925 Ultra core, which operates at 3.73GHz. It also features three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. For graphics processing, the chipset incorporates an Immortalis-G925 GPU that supports advanced ray tracing, as well as adaptive game technology and frame technology enhancements. It includes a flagship NPU designed for generative reasoning and multi-modal model support.
The chipset leverages the MediaTek Imagiq image processor, allowing for real-time motion tracking at up to 30 fps, 8K video recording at 60 fps with Dolby Vision HDR, and noise reduction capabilities. It supports camera sensors of up to 320MP and WQHD+ displays with refresh rates of up to 180Hz.
Additionally, the 9500s supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4 storage, as well as a range of connectivity features including Wi-Fi 7, dual SIM dual active 5G, GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, NavIC, QZSS, Bluetooth 5.4, and MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 power-saving technology.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500

The Dimensity 8500 also features an All Big Core CPU design but is manufactured using a more efficient 4nm process. It boasts eight Cortex-A725 cores that can clock up to 3.4GHz, and it incorporates a Mali-G720 GPU, which offers up to 25% enhanced performance and 20% lower power consumption compared to its predecessor.
For memory and storage, it supports LPDDR5X 4-channel RAM and UFS 4 storage, paired with a MediaTek 8th-gen NPU (880) that can handle most large language and image generation models.
In terms of connectivity, the chipset includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, the same GPS satellite support as the flagship 9500s, dual SIM dual active 5G, and MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+.
In terms of imaging capabilities, the Dimensity 8500 supports camera sensors of up to 320MP, alongside 4K video recording at 60 fps, with support for displays up to WQHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
