Spotify is once again raising the price of its Premium subscription in the United States, as well as in Estonia and Latvia. The new monthly fee will be $12.99, a $1 increase from the previous price of $11.99. These changes will take effect on the subscriber's billing date in February. The Duo plan will rise to $18.99 from $16.99, while the Family plan will increase from $19.99 to $21.99. Additionally, the Student plan will see a price jump from $5.99 to $6.99.
Although a $1 or $2 increase might seem minor, the ongoing rise in subscription costs can be quite frustrating for customers. Subscribers affected by this latest price hike will receive a notification as shown below.

Spotify asserts that "occasional updates to pricing" across its markets reflect the value it provides, allowing the company to "continue offering the best possible experience" and support artists. However, it is worth noting that the additional dollar does not directly benefit the artists, as the financial mechanics of subscription services are more complex.
