Transferring eSIM profiles between devices can be a hassle, particularly when switching from an iPhone to an Android phone. However, Apple is reportedly working on a new feature for iOS 19 that will make this process much easier.
According to reports from Android Authority, the upcoming iOS update will include a feature called “Transfer to Android” in the Settings menu. This feature will allow users to generate a QR code to easily transfer their eSIM profile from their iPhone to an Android device by simply scanning the code.
Furthermore, the code suggests that only devices running iOS 19 or later will be able to make this transfer, streamlining the process for users looking to switch between operating systems.
Currently, all Apple devices sold in the US are eSIM-only, meaning users have to contact their carrier for a personalized QR code to activate their eSIM, which can be quite inconvenient. With this new feature, switching between iOS and Android devices will be much more seamless.
More details about this feature are expected to be announced at the WWDC event scheduled for June 9-13.
