Insta360 has once again set the bar high with the release of its latest 8K 360° camera, the Insta360 X5. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the X5 introduces a host of impressive features that enhance the photography and videography experience. With larger sensors, enhanced low-light capabilities, improved battery life, and the convenience of replaceable lenses, the X5 is designed to meet the demands of both casual users and seasoned creators.

The Insta360 X5 boasts significant upgrades, including 1/1.28” sensors, which are 144% larger than the previous generation's sensors. This larger surface area allows the camera to capture more light for improved image quality, especially in challenging lighting conditions.
Equipped with PureVideo technology, the X5 features AI-driven noise reduction and dynamic range optimization tailored for low-light environments. The camera also introduces Active HDR, now supporting video resolutions of up to 5.7K at 60fps. Powered by a new Triple AI Chip system comprising one 5nm AI Chip and two Pro Imaging chips, the X5 delivers a staggering 140% boost in computing power compared to the X4 model.

Video recording capabilities remain robust, allowing users to achieve 8K at 30fps or 120fps at 4K resolution—an upgrade from the previous model's 100fps. Notably, PureVideo functionality extends to both 8K at 30fps and 5.7K at 30fps filming, ensuring excellent quality across various shooting scenarios.
Insta360 has also integrated an innovative InstaFrame feature, which records two videos simultaneously—one for immediate sharing and another in complete 360° that can be edited later. This is ideal for users looking to capture spontaneous moments while also providing the flexibility for post-production refinement.

The new model is built for adventure, now featuring an IP68 rating for water resistance up to 15m (49ft) without needing diving housing. Improved algorithms and a new steel mesh Wind Guard further minimize wind noise, making the X5 perfect for outdoor filming.
Insta360 has also introduced a wireless mic that can be clipped onto clothing. This dual-purpose device serves as a remote control, enabling users to start recording from a distance, effectively expanding creative filming options.
The upgrade in lens quality is noteworthy, with high-strength, scratch-resistant glass now used. Users can easily replace scratched lenses themselves for just $30, making maintenance more convenient.

The battery life has been significantly enhanced as well, with the new 2,400mAh battery extending usage to 187 minutes—a 37% increase over the X4. In 8K mode, the camera is expected to last for around 88 minutes. Moreover, the X5 supports fast charging, reaching 80% in just 20 minutes with a 30W USB-C charger.

The Insta360 X5 is now available for purchase, with the standard bundle priced at $550/€590. Various bundles are offered to cater to diverse filming needs, whether for biking, snowboarding, or underwater adventures. You can also purchase the X5 through major retailers including Amazon.
