Motorola Edge 70 Pro Begins Receiving Android 17 in Europe

Source: Date:

Introduction: Motorola’s Edge 70 Pro is now moving to Android 17, giving the device its first major platform upgrade since release. Early deliveries are being reported in Europe, where owners can expect a large download alongside a refreshed software experience.

Based on user feedback, the European Edge 70 Pro variant is receiving a 3.42GB system update. After installation, the device should report build number A171WMH.44-25. Because of the file size, a stable Wi‑Fi connection is recommended before starting the download.

Motorola’s update notes promise a cleaner look, less crowded notifications, smoother multitasking, and stronger privacy controls. Additional changes reportedly include fresh lock-screen clock styles, updated quick settings, a new volume mixer, a revised Settings layout, Live Activities support for calls, audio playback, and flashlight use, plus improved themed icons and animations. One early tester also says the company’s Qira AI assistant performs well on the new build.

The Edge 70 Pro debuted in April with Android 16 and is expected to receive three major OS upgrades, making Android 17 the first step in that update path. It follows other Motorola handsets already running Android 17, including the Signature, Edge 60 Fusion, and Razr Ultra 2026.

For now, the rollout appears to be limited and may take several days or weeks to reach all eligible units, with non-European markets likely to follow later. Users can check manually through Settings > System updates and should consider backing up important data before installing.
