WhatsApp’s Media Hub Is Coming to iPhone

WhatsApp appears to be preparing a more convenient way for iPhone users to manage the media they receive across their chats. According to details uncovered in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS, the messaging platform is working on bringing its media hub feature to the iPhone app after initially launching it on Mac and the web.

The upcoming media hub is designed to gather photos, videos, links, and documents from conversations into one centralized place. Instead of searching through individual chats, users will be able to browse the content they have received more easily. The feature will be located inside WhatsApp’s settings and will focus only on received media, meaning sent files and disappearing messages will not appear in the hub.

According to the information discovered in WhatsApp beta version 26.42.10.74, the media hub will include two tabs: “New,” which will show recently received items, and “All media,” which will display everything available in the hub. Users will also be able to filter content by photos, videos, or links. In addition, the feature will offer both list and grid viewing options, while a heart icon will let users quickly see items they have reacted to.

Each item inside the media hub will come with several quick actions. Users will be able to forward the content to another conversation, react to it, star it for easier access, or jump directly to the chat where it was originally received. WhatsApp is also adding a search function that will work with photo and video captions, as well as links, making it easier to find specific content even if the user cannot remember when it was shared.

However, the media hub is still a work in progress. The feature has been found inside the app’s code but is not yet available to beta testers. WhatsApp is expected to begin rolling it out to a limited group of testers in a future update, though there is no confirmed timeline for when it will become available to all iPhone users.
