In an exciting announcement at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, BYD revealed that its flagship SUV, the Atto 8, will soon hit European markets. This spacious seven-seater electric vehicle (EV) is designed to rival popular models like the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 9. Following its earlier launch in Australia and other right-hand-drive countries, the Atto 8 will also make its debut in the UK in early 2027.
BYD Atto 8 Overview
The Atto 8 will be available in the UK in two distinct configurations: the Design RWD and the Excellence AWD. The RWD variant features a single motor on the rear axle, delivering a robust 449 hp, while the AWD variant boasts an additional front motor for an impressive combined output of 754 hp.
The RWD version offers longer mileage capabilities with a range of 405 miles on a single charge, while the AWD configuration provides a respectable 374 miles.
Charging capabilities are equally impressive, as the Atto 8 is equipped with BYD's innovative Flash Charging technology. This allows the substantial 115 kWh battery to recharge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. Furthermore, BYD’s Blade battery technology ensures consistent performance, even in harsh cold climates, with an ability to charge from 20% to 97% in only 12 minutes at -30 °C. By next year, Europe is expected to have over 3,000 fast-charging stations supporting this technology.
Interior Features of the Atto 8
The Atto 8 boasts an inviting interior equipped with a large 15.6-inch central infotainment display and a complementary 10.25-inch driver’s display. Standard features include a heads-up display, dual wireless charging pads, and insulated glass for enhanced comfort.
The extensive standard equipment package offers heating, ventilation, and massage functionalities for the front and middle-row seats, along with tri-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, genuine leather seating, and a premium 10-speaker sound system. The Excellence AWD model also includes a unique fridge in the front that can cool down to 6 °C and warm up to 50 °C.
With the Atto 8 set to reach European shores in early 2027, prospective buyers will have to wait for further updates on pricing and availability.
