The all-new Smart #2 has officially made its debut, promising to revolutionize how we think of city-friendly transportation. With an impressive electric performance and a design tailored for urban environments, this two-seater electric vehicle (EV) is backed by advanced technology and premium features, making it a standout choice for commuter life. Showcased at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the Smart #2 demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and innovation, aiming to meet the needs of modern drivers.
Smart #2 EV
The Smart #2 is a remarkable evolution of the classic Smart ForTwo, built on the state-of-the-art Electric Compact Architecture (ECA). This model is designed with the urban commuter in mind, featuring a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 80 hp and 130 Nm of torque. This setup provides spirited acceleration, allowing the Smart #2 to reach 100 km/h in just 11.6 seconds, with a top speed capped at a convenient 140 km/h for city driving.
Smart #2 EV Performance
In terms of range, the Smart #2 is fitted with a 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 290 km. The vehicle supports DC fast charging, with a peak charging rate of 65 kW, enabling a rapid charge from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes. For those who prefer AC charging, the 11 kW option allows for a full charge in just over three hours, whereas entry-level trims come with a more modest 7.4 kW charging capability.
This model also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, making it easy to power external devices, enhancing its versatility for everyday use.
In terms of size, the Smart #2 remains compact, measuring only 108.1 inches in length. Despite its small footprint, the vehicle offers a surprising 305 liters of trunk space, expandable to 527 liters with the rear seat folded down. This thoughtful design continues the split tailgate feature, accommodating larger items when necessary.
The interior maintains a minimalist approach with a modest 10.1-inch central infotainment display paired with an 8.8-inch driver display for the instrument cluster.
The Smart #2 will be available in several trims, starting at €19,999 for the Pure base model, which includes essential driver-assistance features and V2L functionality. The Pure+ trim is priced at €20,990 and offers 11 kW AC charging along with heated driver's seat options. For those looking for a more luxurious experience, the Premium package at €24,490 includes a glass roof, heated passenger seats, and a premium 7-speaker audio system by Sennheiser. Additionally, a limited Couture Edition will be available at €25,690, featuring exclusive styling and a limited run of just 999 units, exclusively in Europe.
Smart has indicated that the Smart #2 is currently undergoing final homologation processes, with an official launch date to follow shortly.
