Apple Unveils Smart Home Innovations with the New Home Collection in Partnership with LG and Schneider

In an exciting reveal, Apple recently expanded its ecosystem with smart home solutions designed to make life easier and more connected. Highlighting the event were the launches of the HomeView smart display, Apple TV 4K (next generation), and the HomePod mini 2, all equipped with Siri's AI capabilities. What stands out the most is the introduction of the Apple Home Collection, a unique assortment of smart home accessories developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

The product lineup features a variety of innovative devices including four LG smart cameras, an LG smart lock, dual smart thermostats (one each from LG and Schneider), and temperature sensors from both partners. With a user-friendly setup process requiring just one tap from an iPhone, all devices can be controlled via the Home app or Siri without the need for additional apps or account setups. Supporting Thread technology, these devices can seamlessly update their network credentials whenever you change your Wi-Fi.

Each of the four LG cameras captures stunning video quality up to 2.5K and boasts advanced recognition features for people, pets, vehicles, and packages. The video history is stored within your iCloud+ plan, eliminating the need for separate camera subscriptions. Prominent models include the LG Video Doorbell Wired, which utilizes a dual-camera setup to monitor front doors and packages, and the LG Floodlight Cam, featuring adaptive floodlights that activate with motion detection and low-light night vision capabilities.

Highlighting the smart lock, the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock employs Ultra Wideband technology to detect when you're nearing the door with your iPhone or Apple Watch, allowing for hassle-free automatic unlocking. Additionally, it includes options for traditional unlocking via a PIN pad or physical key and gives you the ability to share guest access through the Home app. Notably, it functions reliably even without an internet connection.

On the climate control front, both LG and Schneider are offering smart thermostats integrating Adaptive Temperature features via the Home app. These thermostats dynamically adjust heating and cooling based on your comfort preferences. They come equipped with wire detection for DIY ease and are designed to be aesthetically pleasing in any home.

Temperature readings from multiple rooms can be achieved by utilizing Built-in sensors from devices like HomeView, HomePod, and the new LG Temperature Sensor along with Schneider’s Home Room Sensor. The data from the Home app, including camera footage, is securely encrypted, ensuring privacy and peace of mind for users.

The Apple Home Collection's exclusive offerings will be available for purchase in December, with select items rolling out in early 2027. Pricing includes the LG Video Doorbell Wired at $249.95, the Floodlight Cam at $399.95, and the Smart Deadbolt Lock at $349.95, among others. Initial availability will focus on the U.S., Canada, and the UK for the cameras, while the lock, thermostats, and sensors will be limited to the U.S. and Canada.
