Apple has revealed its latest innovation, the HomeView, a cutting-edge smart home hub designed to enhance your connected living experience. With a sleek 7-inch touchscreen interface and powered by the newly developed Siri with Apple Intelligence, the HomeView promises to be an integral part of any smart home setup. Available in both portable and wall-mounted designs, this hub will be ready for pre-order soon.
The standard HomeView boasts a unique floating display design supported by a rounded aluminum base. Its adjustable hinge allows for customizable angles, and it comes in four stylish colors: silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray, complemented by matching cables.
In contrast, the wall-mounted version is a minimalist display module that can be paired with various mounts from Schneider Home, available in the classic options of silver and space gray.
Featuring a 7-inch LCD screen, the HomeView delivers a crisp 1088x1088 resolution with a pixel density of 220ppi. Users will enjoy excellent visibility with a peak brightness of 500 nits and a minimum brightness of 0.3 nits, alongside True Tone technology that adjusts the color temperature to suit the surrounding light. To maintain a clean display, the screen is covered with a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating.
Sound quality is a standout feature of the HomeView. Both versions include two full-range drivers in the display, while the standard version adds a downfiring woofer and dual force-canceling passive radiators within the base for a more immersive audio experience. This system supports Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and leverages computational audio to adapt in real-time to environmental acoustics. Additionally, four far-field microphones enhance voice recognition capabilities, allowing the device to detect alarms for smoke and carbon monoxide.
For video conferencing, the HomeView features a powerful 12MP f/2.4 ultra-wide camera with the innovative Center Stage capability, which automatically crops and follows the subject during calls. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ax with MIMO, Bluetooth 6.0, and Thread networking for seamless interactions with other smart devices.
At its core, the HomeView runs on the advanced Apple A18 chip and utilizes the new Siri backed by Apple Intelligence for smart processing of requests. Users can start interactions on the HomeView and continue them on compatible Apple devices such as iPhones or iPads.
The HomeView’s recognition technology allows it to identify up to six different users, providing personalized responses and access to information from their Apple devices. While features like responding to iMessages and emails are user-restricted, shared iCloud photo libraries and music are accessible to all household members. Users can also personalize their home screen with individualized widget arrangements.
The Apple HomeView is priced at $299 for both the standard and wall-mounted versions, with additional wall mounts sold separately. Pre-orders are available now in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S., with sales commencing on November 13. Notably, the device will not be available in the EU due to regulatory restrictions surrounding AI technology.
