Sources from Korea indicate that Qualcomm is considering a dual-supplier model with both Samsung and TSMC for the production of its upcoming chips. While TSMC has long been viewed as the exclusive foundry, Samsung's recent improvements in 2nm manufacturing yields have opened the door for potential collaboration. Reports suggest that Samsung has reached production yields of about 55%, compared to TSMC’s 60-70%. However, Qualcomm's manufacturing requirements stipulate a minimum yield of approximately 70% for large-scale contracts, which might be a significant hurdle for Samsung.
