As Gamescom 2026 unfolds, Samsung has made a significant splash in the gaming world by unveiling an impressive lineup of four new monitors from its Odyssey series. Among these groundbreaking products is the world’s first 49” Dual QHD monitor that can achieve a staggering refresh rate of 1,100Hz. This exciting showcase highlights Samsung's commitment to enhancing the gaming experience, providing gamers with superior technology and performance.
The highlight is undoubtedly the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ), a cutting-edge 49” Dual QHD monitor featuring a remarkable 360Hz refresh rate. This monitor utilizes a 5th generation QD-OLED panel, which is 1.3 times more efficient than its predecessor and boasts double the lifespan. With a full RGB stripe design, users can enjoy razor-sharp text and visuals enhanced by a peak brightness of 1,300 nits in a 4K resolution on a 3% window.
At a native resolution of 5,120 x 1,440 pixels, the G9 operates at an impressive 360Hz refresh rate with an incredibly fast 0.03ms GtG response time. For those looking for higher refresh rates, a 720Hz mode is available, albeit at a reduced resolution of 2,560 x 720 pixels.
Next in line is the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ), which delivers similar high-performance specifications within a more traditional 32” UHD format. This model also supports a groundbreaking 360Hz refresh rate at UHD resolution while allowing for modes up to 680Hz in FHD resolution. Featuring Samsung's innovative Glare Free film, which is 54% less reflective than typical anti-reflection coatings, the G8 is VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 600 certified and is compatible with both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync technologies. Connectivity options include one DisplayPort 2.1, two HDMI ports, a USB-C port with 98W power delivery, as well as a built-in USB hub with KVM functionality.
Following that is the Samsung Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ), a 42” curved (1000R) 16:9 OLED gaming monitor, which offers 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165Hz. The increased diagonal size provides 72% more screen area compared to the 32” counterpart, enhancing immersion in gameplay.
Lastly, Samsung reintroduced the Odyssey G6 (G60H), a 27” IPS LCD monitor that has now claimed the title of the world's first 1,100Hz gaming monitor, albeit at HD resolution. Users can choose QHD resolution for sharper images and still capitalize on an impressive 600Hz refresh rate.
In addition to launching these innovative monitors, Samsung announced its collaboration with Activision Blizzard to integrate HDR10+ Gaming into 20 AAA titles, starting with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, set for release in the first half of 2027. HDR10+ is a royalty-free standard that offers numerous gaming-focused enhancements, as well as HDR10+ Advanced options for movies and TV shows.
