After the initial attempt of the original Audi A2 fell short in the market, Audi is preparing to make a grand comeback with a fully electric version. The upcoming Audi A2 e-tron is set to make its debut this fall, and the brand is already creating buzz by highlighting its remarkable efficiency as verified by WLTP standards.
Efficiency at Its Best: Audi A2 e-tron
Recent data from WLTP indicates that the A2 e-tron can achieve an astonishing consumption rate as low as 12.8 kWh per 62 miles. This impressive figure is primarily attributed to its aerodynamic design, featuring a drag coefficient of just 0.24 Cd. Notably, this efficiency level is attainable with an optional efficiency package that Audi will offer for the A2 e-tron.
Aerodynamic Innovations
Audi has implemented a range of aerodynamic enhancements to optimize the vehicle's efficiency. These include front-wheel deflectors, gap reducers, and gap breathers located at the front and rear of each wheel. Additionally, the dynamic air inlet at the front only activates when the battery and motor require extra cooling, which typically occurs during high temperatures or aggressive driving conditions.
Battery and Range Expectations
While Audi has not disclosed the specific range of the A2 e-tron, the company has confirmed the use of an LFP battery, and as it shares a platform with the VW ID.3 Neo, it is reasonable to anticipate a range exceeding 307 miles. The ID.3 Neo with its mid-tier 58 kWh battery provides this range, and Audi has confirmed a 61 kWh battery for the A2, leaving the possibility that a larger battery could further extend the range.
