WhatsApp Introduces an "Offers & Updates" Folder to Streamline Business Messages

In a bid to enhance user experience, WhatsApp acknowledges the growing concern among its users regarding the clutter in their chat lists, particularly due to numerous threads from large businesses such as banks and airlines. A recent report indicates that the platform is currently testing a new feature aimed at addressing this issue.

WhatsApp plans to automatically sort messages from large businesses into a dedicated "Offers & Updates" folder. This feature will enable these messages to be moved out of the main chat view after a predetermined period, allowing for a cleaner and more organized messaging interface.

The platform is experimenting with different time frames for this transition, potentially up to 24 hours. Users who prefer to keep all their conversations in the main chat list will have the option to disable the feature in the app’s settings. However, custom time settings will not be available; users will either need to accept WhatsApp's chosen duration or opt out entirely.

The initiative aims to declutter the main chat list by relocating unrelated messages such as discount codes and delivery notifications. Currently, this new folder will not include messages from small businesses and personal accounts, although WhatsApp may consider integrating those messages in the future.
