The iPhone Ultra, Apple’s highly anticipated foldable phone, is expected to be officially announced in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. However, a recent report indicates that the foldable iPhone may not be available for pre-orders immediately following its unveiling, with shipments projected to commence at a later date.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo notes that initial availability of the iPhone Ultra will be limited due to manufacturing challenges. Consequently, pre-orders are likely to start after those for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Kuo further states that Apple could begin shipping the foldable iPhone in the fourth quarter of 2026. Despite its anticipated price range of $2,300 to $2,500, the analyst predicts that the iPhone Ultra will likely sell out quickly upon release.
The limited supply may also encourage scalpers to resell the device at premiums of 50 to 100 percent above its retail price. Kuo estimates Apple will ship approximately 7-8 million units of the foldable iPhone by the end of 2026.
Interestingly, a recent report indicated that Apple has raised its 2026 production goal for the iPhone Ultra to around 10 million units.
The iPhone Ultra is rumored to feature a 7.76-inch main display and a 5.49-inch cover screen. It is expected to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset and equipped with 12GB of RAM, along with a 5,500mAh battery.
