According to a report by The Information, Anthropic and Samsung are currently negotiating a deal whereby the Korean tech giant will manufacture Anthropic's custom AI chips.

The surge in demand for semiconductors, largely driven by the rise of artificial intelligence, has prompted numerous companies to seek alternatives to TSMC for chip suppliers. Prior to the AI boom, both Samsung and Intel faced challenges in their chip businesses, but recent industry developments have significantly improved circumstances for both companies. In fact, Apple is reportedly reconsidering Intel as a chip supplier, and Samsung is also in discussions with Apple.
While Anthropic has reassured its current partners that its data centers will continue to utilize Amazon's Titanium chips, Google’s tensor processing units (TPUs), and Nvidia’s GPUs for the time being, the company recognizes the necessity of developing custom hardware to support its computational demands and growth. Similarly, OpenAI is in discussions with Broadcom for custom solutions as well.
