Amazon Leo: The New Contender to Starlink Set for Launch

Source: Date:

Amazon has been developing its own Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, aptly named Amazon Leo, aiming to rival SpaceX's Starlink, the existing leader in satellite networks.

Recently, Chris Weber, Amazon's Vice President overseeing Leo, announced that the company has successfully deployed over 390 LEO satellites, which is sufficient to provide continuous service across initial latitudes.

Weber also confirmed that Amazon has completed enough launches to initiate service this year, with plans to make Leo generally available before the end of 2026.

For those eager to be among the first users of Leo, a waitlist is available. Amazon will provide three distinct receiver options: the Nano (7" x 7") capable of downloads up to 100Mbps, the Pro (11" x 11") supporting speeds up to 400Mbps, and the Ultra (20" x 30") with download speeds reaching 1Gbps.
