Introducing the Redmi K90 Ultra: Snapdragon 8 Elite, Built-in Cooling, and Impressive Features

Today in China, Redmi officially unveiled the K90 Ultra, putting an end to months of leaks, rumors, and speculation surrounding the device. Powered by the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the K90 Ultra features a built-in active cooling fan, which is said to reduce temperatures by up to 10°C, ensuring prolonged gaming sessions without throttling. Additionally, it includes a standalone D2 interpolation chip tailored for gaming.

The smartphone showcases a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280x2772, offering a 165Hz refresh rate, 3,500-nit peak brightness, and full-array DC dimming. For photography, it is equipped with a 50MP main camera featuring OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 20MP selfie camera.

The device is powered by an 8,550mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 22.5W reverse charging. It ships with a 100W GaN charger included in the box. Additionally, the K90 Ultra features dual symmetrical stereo speakers tuned by Bose and boasts IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. Operating on HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16, it promises a smooth user experience.

The K90 Ultra is available in three colors: Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue. The base model starts at CNY 2,999 (approximately $441) for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with a promotional offer currently allowing customers to obtain 16GB of RAM for the same price. This version typically retails for CNY 3,199 ($470). There are also options for 12GB RAM with 512GB storage priced at CNY 3,499 ($515) and a high-end 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model at CNY 3,699 ($544).

It is unlikely that the Redmi K90 Ultra will be officially sold outside of China, but there may be a similar device launched under the Poco brand in the coming months. However, users should temper their expectations.
