The RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, now launching as the RedMagic Astra 2, is poised to be one of the most powerful Android tablets of 2026. Following up on last year’s model, this successor boasts the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, configurable with up to 16GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of UFS 4.1 Pro storage.
Initially launching in China, the RedMagic Astra 2 is set to roll out internationally afterward.
The device features a 9.06-inch OLED display with a stunning 2.4K resolution (1,504 x 2,400 pixels) and a refresh rate of 185Hz, a significant upgrade from the 165Hz of its predecessor. To enhance responsiveness, RedMagic incorporates a Synaptics S3930 touch controller that supports a 300Hz touch sampling rate.
This new model also features RedMagic's proprietary RedCore R4 gaming chip and an advanced active liquid cooling system visible on the back, along with RGB lighting to appeal to gamers.
Another exciting feature is the integrated PC emulator with Steam support. This custom translation layer within the Game Space app allows for the use of x86 applications and games on the tablet. According to RedMagic, users can enjoy titles in up to 2K resolution with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

The Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, or Astra 2, includes an 8,300mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging. It also introduces a second USB-C port for charging and connecting peripherals, though only the main port at the bottom supports USB 3.2 and the maximum 80W charging speed.

Available in Silver Wing and Dark Night colors, the RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro starts at approximately $736 (€645 converted) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant in China. The highest configuration with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at CNY 6,999 (around $1,030/€904 converted). The initial orders in China are expected to ship on July 7.
