Introducing the Honor Watch 6: A Sleek Smartwatch with Impressive Battery Life

Source: Date:

The new Honor Watch 6 boasts an impressive 980mAh battery, enabling up to 35 days of use under typical conditions. This smartwatch features a lighter, slimmer design, a brighter display, and enhanced health and sports tracking capabilities.

The body of the Watch 6 is crafted from recycled aluminum alloy combined with 316L stainless steel accents. Weighing just 41g and measuring 10.8mm thick, its design is particularly notable when compared to the Honor Watch 5 Ultra, which is 11g heavier (at 52g), slightly thicker (11.4mm), and equipped with a smaller 480mAh battery. While a 480mAh battery is common for a 46mm watch, the 980mAh battery of the Honor Watch 6 surpasses even that of the Xiaomi Watch 5, which offers a notable 930mAh yet weighs 56g and is 12.3mm thick.

The Watch 6 features a 46.5mm diameter with intricately beveled edges surrounding its 1.46" display, referred to as the Racing Dashboard Design. Unlike the standard Honor Watch 5, this model has a circular display and is available in two stylish options: Twilight Brown (with a brown leather strap) and Shadow Black (with a black fluoroelastomer strap). Please note that the weights stated are excluding the strap.

The display offers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and allows for customization with live photos and short videos of up to 10 seconds. The touchscreen is responsive even when wet, making it convenient for use during rain.

Users can control the watch without using the touchscreen; Honor has incorporated wrist-twist gestures for managing alarms, phone calls, and music playback.

The Watch 6 is rated IP69, making it suitable for poolside and beach use, though it should not be used for diving. It accommodates over 120 sports modes, including specialized features. For instance, Trail Running mode offers an AI coach with detailed ascent and distance metrics. The badminton mode provides reports on smash speed, while the football mode includes heat and trajectory mapping.

Outdoor activities are tracked using a dual-band “six-star” GPS that supports multiple constellations, including Galileo and BeiDou. Furthermore, the NFC functionality allows users to make payments with Mastercard and Visa while on the go.

The Quick Health Scan feature provides instantaneous health analysis, and users can wake up to a daily health report each morning. Honor's IntelliSense technology offers improved and uniform signal acquisition compared to typical PPG sensors used for heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring.

It's worth noting that like other models in the line, the Honor Watch 6 operates on a proprietary MagicOS instead of Wear OS. It is compatible with Android (9.0+) and iOS (15.1+) devices and includes 4GB of built-in storage for storing maps.

The Honor Watch 6 is available starting today (June 18). The standard retail price for the Shadow Black version is €250/£230, while the Twilight Brown variant is priced at €270/£250. For the first month, however, the black version is available for only €170/£150 (an €80/£80 discount). The leather option costs an additional €20/£20. A free pair of Honor Choice Earbuds Clip (MSRP £60) is included with purchase, although subscription is required to claim the discount and free earbuds.
