Xiaomi has firmly established itself as a significant player in the electric vehicle market with the launch of its first sedan, the Xiaomi SU7. Within just 48 days of its revamped model's release on March 20, the company secured over 80,000 pre-orders from customers who paid a deposit to confirm their purchase.
In April 2026, Xiaomi delivered more than 30,000 vehicles—a noteworthy achievement for a brand that is relatively new in the automotive sector. Although sales figures have fluctuated, the overall trend indicates an increasing interest in their cars. In March, Xiaomi sold 21,440 vehicles in China, which was a slight decline compared to previous months; however, the impressive sales in April suggest the SU7 has regained momentum.

Price is often a decisive factor for buyers of electric vehicles, and Xiaomi has positioned itself competitively in this regard. The SU7 is available in three different variants to cater to varying needs and budgets. The Standard model is priced starting at RMB 219,900 (approximately $32,200). The Pro version carries a higher price, while the high-performance Max variant is available for RMB 303,900 (about $44,500). By pricing its sedan below many luxury competitors, Xiaomi has attracted widespread attention from consumers.
To further enhance its appeal, Xiaomi is providing additional incentives for car buyers who purchase between May 6 and May 31. Buyers of the Standard or Pro models receive benefits worth $6,150, while those opting for the Max version enjoy perks totaling $8,930. These incentives include zero-gravity seats with built-in massage functions and improved storage options, alongside the advanced HAD driving system.
Additionally, Xiaomi offers a five-year financing plan with low interest rates. Buyers are required to make a minimum down payment of RMB 49,900 ($7,300), with monthly payments starting at RMB 3,115 ($456), making the prospect of owning a modern electric car more attainable for families and young professionals.

All variants of the Xiaomi SU7 are equipped with the V6S Plus motor. The Standard and Pro models deliver 235 kW of power, while the Max version boasts a dual-motor setup producing an impressive 508 kW, allowing for swift acceleration that goes beyond a basic commuter car.
Battery capacity and driving range are critical considerations for many electric car buyers. The Standard model features a 73 kWh battery, offering a range of 447 miles. The Pro version has a larger 96.3 kWh battery, reaching an impressive 560 miles on a single charge, while the Max version, equipped with a 101.7 kWh battery, has a slightly lower range of 519 miles due to its higher power consumption.

The Xiaomi SU7 is characterized by its spacious and comfortable design, measuring 196.7 inches in length with a 118-inch wheelbase, providing ample legroom. The interior is equipped with advanced technology, including a 16.1-inch central touchscreen for navigation and entertainment, a 7.1-inch rotating instrument panel for the driver, and a heads-up display that projects speed and directions directly onto the windshield for enhanced safety.
Safety features are another priority for Xiaomi, as each model in the SU7 lineup includes LiDAR technology as standard. This laser-based sensor enhances the vehicle's environmental awareness and works in conjunction with the HAD assisted driving system to help maintain lane discipline and detect hazards. While many automakers charge significant premiums for such technology, Xiaomi incorporates it into every trim level.

As of May 6, Xiaomi has implemented some minor adjustments to its lineup, including discontinuing certain exterior colors, such as magenta and black, for lower-priced models. The selection of wheel options has also been streamlined; now, 20-inch wheels are limited to specific versions and color combinations. The Max version has also removed a special styling package that was previously available. These modifications may enhance production efficiency to meet the significant demand from the 80,000 pre-orders.
Xiaomi has indicated it will not venture into offering “budget” electric vehicles, stating it will not introduce models priced below RMB 100,000 ($13,800). The company aims to establish a reputation for quality and advanced technology rather than simply competing on price. Additionally, Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new model, the YU7 GT, later in May 2026.
