Apple launched the M4 chip-powered Mac Mini in 2024, with its base model initially featuring 256GB of storage. This model went out of stock on Apple's online store last month in several countries, including the US, and has now been removed from Apple's website globally.

The new standard storage option for the M4 Mac Mini on Apple's website is now 512GB, which is priced at $799 with the default 16GB RAM configuration. Customers can also choose from two additional RAM options: 24GB and 32GB. For those seeking more storage, upgrade options include 1TB or 2TB.

Upgrading to the M4 Pro chip allows the Mac Mini to support up to 64GB of RAM and offer up to 8TB of storage.

During Apple's recent Q2 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook acknowledged a constrained supply of the Mac Mini, attributing this to increased demand. He also indicated that it may take several months for Apple to achieve a balance between supply and demand.

On the Mac mini and the Mac Studio, both of these are amazing platforms for AI and agentic tools, and the customer recognition of that is happening faster than what we had predicted, and so we saw higher than expected demand,” said Tim Cook.
