Recent reports from China indicate that OnePlus and Realme are merging, a development that has stirred considerable discussion within tech circles. Renowned tipster Digital Chat Station has disclosed that after thorough deliberation, the two brands will unify into a single entity led by Li Jie, president of OnePlus China. Jie will report directly to Pete Lau (Liu Zuohu).
This merger is expected to result in shared product development, strategies, and resources across both brands. It will also likely affect software development, product roadmaps, and launch schedules.
Wang Wei, previously the VP of Realme, is anticipated to assume the role of deputy general manager. The latest report indicates that the merged entities will combine their domestic and global operations while maintaining their distinct brand identities. Additionally, marketing and services will be consolidated into a new sub-business unit.
As of now, neither OnePlus nor Realme has officially commented on this merger.
