Introducing the vivo Y500s: A Powerhouse with 7,200mAh Battery and Teaser for Y600 Pro

Source: Date:

A week ago, vivo launched the Y6t, featuring a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, a 6.74” 720p+ display, and a 6,500mAh battery, all at an attractive price of CNY 1,400 ($205) for the base 6/128GB variant. Now, the company is unveiling the vivo Y500s, offering an even better value proposition, alongside a teaser for the vivo Y600 Pro.

The vivo Y500s is equipped with a robust 7,200mAh battery, delivering a typical capacity of 28.23Wh. It supports 44W Flash charging (11V at 4A) via USB-C. With a full charge, users can enjoy nearly 24 hours of continuous TV viewing or approximately 15.5 hours of navigation. Even with only 20% battery remaining, the device can still manage about 3 hours of navigation in power-saving mode.

This battery features Blue Ocean 3 technology, ensuring safety during charging in extreme temperatures, ranging from -20°C to 40°C. Vivo assures customers of a longevity of 1,600 charge cycles while maintaining at least 80% of its original capacity, which translates to around 6 years of typical use.

The device boasts a 6.75” LCD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1,570px and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. For selfies, it is equipped with an 8MP camera featuring an f/2.1 aperture.

On the rear, the camerawork gets interesting with a 50MP sensor and an f/1.8 aperture. In contrast, the Y6t only has a 13MP camera on the back.

The Y500s has an IP68 rating for submersion and IP69 certification for protection against high-pressure water jets. It includes stereo speakers featuring a one-button cleaning mode that helps eject water if the device is accidentally submerged. Additionally, there is a side-mounted fingerprint reader for secure access.

Powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, while somewhat dated, it remains a capable 4nm chipset with 5G connectivity. Various configurations are available, with the base model featuring 8GB RAM and 256GB storage priced at CNY 1,800. Comparatively, the higher-end Y6t with 6GB RAM and 256GB storage retails for CNY 1,600. Considering the enhanced battery and superior camera, the Y500s presents a compelling case for an additional CNY 200 investment.
