A week ago, vivo unveiled the Y6t, featuring a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, a 6.74-inch 720p+ display, a 6,500mAh battery, and an attractive price of CNY 1,400 ($205) for the base 6/128GB version. Now, the company is introducing the Y500s, improving upon that formula with an even more enticing offer. Additionally, vivo is teasing the upcoming Y600 Pro.
The vivo Y500s is equipped with a larger 7,200mAh battery, providing a typical capacity of 28.23Wh. It supports 44W Flash charging (11V at 4A) through USB-C. With a full charge, users can enjoy nearly 24 hours of uninterrupted TV viewing or utilize navigation for up to 15.5 hours. Even with just 20% battery remaining, the device can offer about 3 hours of navigation in power-saving mode.

This battery is part of vivo's Blue Ocean 3 technology, which allows safe charging in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to 40°C. Additionally, it is rated for 1,600 charge cycles while maintaining at least 80% of its original capacity, translating to around six years of average usage.
The smartphone features a 6.75-inch LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1,570 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. An 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.1 aperture is located at the front.

On the rear, the primary camera boasts a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, which is a significant upgrade compared to the 13MP camera on the Y6t.
This device is rated IP68 for water submersion and IP69 for resistance against high-pressure water jets. It also includes stereo speakers with a one-button cleaning mode to help expel water in case the phone accidentally gets wet. A side-mounted fingerprint reader adds to its features.

The vivo Y500s is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, which, although older, is a 4nm chipset that includes a 5G modem. The base model offers 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at CNY 1,800. In comparison, the higher-spec Y6t with 6GB of RAM and the same storage capacity retails for CNY 1,600, making the Y500s a compelling option for an additional CNY 200, especially given its larger battery and superior camera.
| vivo Y500s | CNY Converted | |
|---|---|---|
| 8/256GB | CNY 1,800 | USD 265 |
| 12/256GB | CNY 2,200 | USD 320 |
| 8/512GB | CNY 2,200 | USD 320 |
Currently, promotional pricing is available, offering a CNY 100 discount on the 12/256GB and 8/512GB models. The Y500s is available in Obsidian Black, Galaxy Silver, and Phoenix Gold.

As we conclude, there's an exciting teaser about the vivo Y600 Pro, which will feature an impressive 10,200mAh battery. Similar to the Y500s, it is expected to have an IP68 and IP69 rating along with a 50MP camera.
