In an exciting development for technology enthusiasts, Apple is set to partner exclusively with Samsung Display to source innovative foldable OLED panels. These advanced screens are anticipated to feature on Apple's soon-to-be-launched device, potentially named the iPhone Fold.

Korean media outlet The Elec has reported that Apple will rely on Samsung Display for the supply of these foldable panels over the next three years, leveraging Samsung's expertise in foldable technology.

Production is expected to kick off in the second quarter, with Samsung targeting an initial shipment of approximately 3 million units. During this period, Apple will not be collaborating with other suppliers for foldable panels, reinforcing their commitment to this partnership.

The foldable OLED panels will incorporate CoE (Color-on-Encapsulation) technology, which enhances display quality by placing a color filter layer above the encapsulation layer, removing the need for a polarizer. Additionally, these panels will utilize Samsung’s M14 luminescent material, akin to that featured in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple's inaugural foldable iPhone, rumored to be named either the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, is expected to be unveiled in September, alongside the anticipated iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models.
