Samsung continues to innovate in the world of mobile technology, with recent reports indicating the company's proactive steps towards the Exynos 2800 System-on-Chip (SoC) development, slated for release in 2028 alongside the Galaxy S28 series. This development follows the recent launch of the Galaxy S26 and S26+ smartphones, which utilize the current Exynos 2600 SoC in select markets.

According to industry insiders, the Exynos 2800 SoC is poised to be manufactured on a 2nm process, specifically using the SF2P+ technology. Samsung aims to finalize the design and submit schematics to its manufacturing partners within the year. Following this, several generations of prototypes will be developed before the actual mass production of the chips begins.
Codenamed Vanguard, the Exynos 2800 will follow the upcoming Exynos 2700, known as Ulysses. Originally, Samsung had intended to shift towards a 1.4nm process starting in 2027, but has opted for a more stable 2nm process during this interim period. This decision reflects a strategic pivot towards yield enhancement and optimization rather than relentless pursuit of smaller architecture.
Reports indicate the Exynos 2700 design is progressing well due to its adherence to the 2nm strategy. An official from Samsung revealed the challenges of maintaining previous paces of miniaturization in mobile chipsets. Instead, the company is focusing on co-optimizing design technologies with manufacturing processes, especially as new fabrication techniques are often plagued by low early yields.
