Xiaomi has introduced a compact battery featuring MagSafe charging – the Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W, measuring just 6mm in thickness and weighing 98g.
This 5,000mAh power bank delivers up to 15W of wireless output via Qi2 technology. Additionally, it includes a USB-C port at the bottom, primarily used for recharging the power bank itself. This port also supports faster charging for devices, offering up to 22.5W when wired.
Despite its small size, the battery is powerful enough to charge two devices simultaneously – one wirelessly and another through the USB-C port. To utilize this feature, simply tap the power button to activate dual charging mode.
However, there are some considerations to keep in mind. A Xiaomi 17 can achieve the full 15W wireless charging capability, but since it lacks built-in magnets, a magnetic case is required for optimal usage. Although wireless charging is still functional without magnets, utilizing a magnetic attachment simplifies the process significantly. In contrast, an iPhone will only draw 7.5W from the power bank.
The dimensions of the power bank are 98.5 × 71.5 × 6mm, making it slightly narrower than the Xiaomi 17 (71.8mm) and matching the width of the iPhone 17. It is also compatible with devices such as the Galaxy S25 (70.5mm, but will require a case) and Pixel 10 (7mm).
The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank (MDY-20-EB) features an aluminum alloy casing available in three colors, with the side designed for attachment made from fiberglass.
The internal battery employs a Silicon-Carbon cell comprising 16% silicon and is rated at 18.58Wh (with a typical capacity of 18.95Wh). Additionally, the battery includes a 4,369mm² graphite sheet for effective cooling. It incorporates multiple safety mechanisms to protect against over-voltage, under-voltage, overcharging, over-discharging, overcurrent, overheating, electrostatic shocks, and more.
The Xiaomi UltraThin Magnetic Power Bank 5000 15W is currently available in select markets, priced at AUD 69.50 in Australia, SGD 69.90 in Singapore, and JPY 5,980 in Japan. However, it has yet to appear in markets further west.
