Volkswagen has unveiled the interior of its latest electric SUV, the ID.Unyx 08, marking a significant milestone as it is the first model in its series to feature a rapid charging system. Although Volkswagen is headquartered in Germany, this particular model has been designed specifically for the Chinese market.

Externally, the ID.Unyx 08 showcases a contemporary and simple aesthetic, characterized by slender upward-facing lights and a luminous Volkswagen logo at its center. This spacious SUV measures 5,000 mm in length and 1,954 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm that ensures ample rear passenger space. Depending on the selected version, the height of the vehicle ranges from 1,672 mm to 1,688 mm.

Inside, the ID.Unyx 08 offers a futuristic and luxurious experience. The driver is positioned in a wraparound cockpit, featuring a compact 10.25-inch display behind the steering wheel and two expansive 14.96-inch screens with 2.4K resolution, enhancing the clarity of maps and menus. Notably, Volkswagen has reintroduced physical buttons and scroll wheels to the steering wheel, likely in response to user feedback regarding touch-sensitive controls in previous models.

Comfort is evidently a priority in this design. The seats are upholstered in soft Nappa leather, with the driver's seat equipped to heat, cool, and massage its occupant. The front passenger seat boasts an impressive reclining feature of up to 120 degrees, along with an electric leg rest, referred to by Volkswagen as "big bed" mode, ideal for resting while the vehicle charges. Rear passengers are not overlooked, as their seats can recline up to 10 degrees, and they are provided with small folding tables for snacks or electronic devices.

The ID.Unyx 08 features an expansive panoramic sunroof covering 1.74 square meters. This innovative roof can switch from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button and offers 10 distinct brightness levels, allowing occupants to manage sunlight exposure while adding a sense of spaciousness to the cabin.

The vehicle is equipped with batteries produced by CATL, available in two capacities: 82.368 kWh and 95.04 kWh. Thanks to its 800V system, the ID.Unyx 08 can charge significantly faster than older electric vehicles. On a full charge, it achieves impressive travel ranges of 630 km to 730 km, based on battery and motor selection, using the Chinese testing cycle known for its more favorable assessments compared to other regions.

The base model of the ID.Unyx 08 features a single rear motor producing 230 kW (approximately 308 hp). For those seeking enhanced traction, an all-wheel-drive variant is available, which adds a front motor generating 140 kW (188 hp) while retaining the rear motor.

This vehicle also incorporates advanced technology, utilizing software and components from XPeng to enhance its driving capabilities. It is equipped with an “L2++” system that assists with steering, braking, and lane-keeping on highways, as well as a "parking-to-parking" feature that autonomously finds and parks the vehicle. Additionally, an AI assistant powered by a large language model is integrated to facilitate interaction with the driver.
