Skoda Introduces the All-New Peaq: A 7-Seater Electric SUV Set for 2026

Skoda has unveiled the name for its upcoming flagship model: the Peaq. This impressive seven-seat SUV is set to debut on European roads by the summer of 2026, representing a significant step for the brand. Ideal for large families, the Peaq aims to provide an electric alternative that eliminates the need for gas stations.

This marks Skoda's first fully electric seven-seat SUV. Previously, families seeking a Skoda with three rows had to rely on gasoline or diesel engines. The Peaq combines the practicality of the popular Kodiaq with the benefits of silent electric motors.

Inspired by the Vision 7S concept car introduced in 2022, the Peaq retains much of its predecessor's bold design. The new model showcases Skoda's "Modern Solid" design language, characterized by its robust, boxy appearance. Departing from traditional models, the Peaq features a streamlined 'Tech Deck' front, devoid of a classic grille.

A signature element of the Peaq includes its distinct T-shaped lights at both the front and rear. The door handles are designed to sit flush with the vehicle's body, enhancing aerodynamics for improved range. Although preview images have been limited to dark teasers, heavily camouflaged prototypes seen on the Nürburgring hint at a confident, versatile design ready for both school runs and long-distance vacations.

Stretching approximately 16 feet long, the Peaq provides ample space to accommodate three rows of seating, making it a practical choice for families in search of electric vehicles that can comfortably fit everyone.

The Peaq utilizes the MEB platform from the Volkswagen Group, which is also featured in models like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz and ID. 7, in addition to the smaller Skoda Enyaq. Sharing this platform helps manage production costs while offering insights into the upcoming flagship's specifications.

The Vision 7S concept featured an 89 kWh battery, and experts anticipate that the production version of the Peaq will be equipped with a similar battery size. This capacity should ensure a substantial driving range of around 373 miles, according to WLTP standards.

The top-tier version of the Peaq is expected to feature dual motors for all-wheel drive capabilities, enhancing traction in adverse weather conditions. With an estimated output of 250 kW (340 PS), it will provide ample power for highway cruising. A more affordable model with a single motor that powers the rear wheels may also be available, allowing for a lower price point while still achieving impressive range.

The electric SUV market is becoming increasingly competitive. The Skoda Peaq will face formidable rivals like the Volvo EX90 upon its release later this year. While these vehicles are similar in size, Skoda aims to position the Peaq as the more economical option. Despite being the most expensive vehicle Skoda has manufactured, it is set to be priced below competitors like Volvo and Kia, continuing Skoda's tradition of offering value. This could pose a significant challenge for other brands if the Peaq successfully offers the same level of space and range at a reduced cost.
