For fans and collectors of tech memorabilia, an exciting opportunity has emerged as RR Auctions prepares to auction a host of iconic Apple-related items. Among the treasures up for grabs is a significant document believed to be the "most important document in Apple history," a check signed by co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Bidding for these exclusive items, including the coveted Apple-1, is open until January 29th. This article explores the highlights of the auction and the unique memorabilia that can tell the story of Apple’s remarkable journey.
The Most Important Document in Apple History
One standout item in the auction is a $500 check signed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, made out to Howard Cantin, the designer of the Apple-1 Printed Circuit Board. This temporary check dates back to March 16th, 1976, just two weeks before Apple was officially registered as a company on April 1st, 1976. Notably, the check features handwritten numeral "1" as its check number.
According to computer historian Corey Cohen, "Without a doubt, check number one is the most important piece of paper in Apple’s history." Jobs and Wozniak were "putting everything on the line," showcasing the gamble that ultimately paid off in building one of the most valuable companies in the world.
