Motorola Moto G Power (2026) Review: Repairability Challenges and Battery Insights

Source: Date:

The Motorola Moto G Power (2026) was launched just last week. Priced at $300, this smartphone boasts an IP69 rating and a MIL-STD-810H compliant design. It features a 6.8-inch LCD display and is powered by the Dimensity 6300 chipset, offering expandable storage and a robust 5,200mAh battery with 30W wired and 15W wireless charging capabilities.

For those interested in repairing the latest G Power model, a disassembly video by PBKreviews may be useful. This phone is equipped with two rear cameras: a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide camera with macro mode. Additionally, a flicker sensor occupies the space of a third lens, while the LED flash is integrated into the rear panel, which presents certain challenges.

Once the back cover is removed, users may encounter difficulties. Motorola has not provided pull tabs or other aids for detaching the battery, opting instead for extensive adhesive use. The battery is designed to maintain at least 80% of its original capacity (5,200mAh typical, 19.95Wh) after 1,000 charge cycles, indicating it will be some time before a replacement is necessary. Nonetheless, a more repair-friendly design would have been preferable.

The challenging battery installation complicates other repair processes. For instance, the screen cable is situated beneath the battery. Access to the ribbon cables for the power and volume buttons also requires screen removal, making repairs more complex and risky, as there is potential for damage to both the battery and the screen.

PBKreviews has assigned the Motorola Moto G Power (2026) a repairability score of 5 out of 10. Most of the deducted points are attributed to the difficult-to-replace battery, which also hinders other repairs.
