We've received our review unit, and here are our initial impressions of Huawei's latest open wireless stereo (OWS) earbuds.

The FreeClip 2, along with its charging case, is significantly more compact than its predecessor. The earbuds measure 25.4 mm in height, 26.7 mm in width, and 18.8 mm in depth, with each earbud weighing just 5.1 grams. The "Comfort Bean," the component that rests behind your ear, is now 11% smaller.

The charging case is 17% narrower and 14% lighter, weighing just under 39 grams, making it more convenient for carrying in smaller pockets compared to the original FreeClip. Additionally, this model features a new design, utilizing a micro-molding plastic material with a stain-resistant denim-textured surface for the case.

The earbuds maintain the same C-bridge design, but the connecting wire is also made from the micro-molding textured plastic found on the charging case. The earpiece that fits in your ear canal features a glossy finish, akin to the bean component that goes behind your ear helix.

Huawei claims that the FreeClip 2 delivers 100% stronger volume and air displacement compared to its predecessors. This improvement is powered by dual 10.8 mm diaphragm drivers, alongside Huawei's third-generation audio chip and a dedicated NPU AI processor, which facilitates adaptive volume adjustment and voice enhancements. The earbuds are equipped with six microphones, ensuring dedicated call noise cancellation.
