Motorola Signature Review: A Premium Yet Affordable Smartphone Option

Source: Date:

Motorola's flagship releases have seen varying consistency over the years, particularly with the Edge series, which sometimes featured an Ultra model and at other times did not. Now, the company has launched the Signature line aimed at the premium market, and the first model is certainly noteworthy.

The Motorola Signature is not a flagship device, but its pricing makes it an attractive option. In Europe, the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version costs approximately £900/€1,000. In comparison, competitors like the vivo X300 Pro are around €400 more expensive, while even the OnePlus 15 stands at €1,000.

This device boasts a slim design, measuring 7.0mm and weighing 186g. While some may not prioritize slimness, the lightweight nature is appealing, especially since it is 47g lighter than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, all while housing a larger 5,200mAh battery. Additionally, it supports fast charging capabilities, offering 90W wired and 50W wireless options—significantly exceeding the offerings from Apple, Google, and Samsung this year.

The phone features a 6.8-inch LTPO display with a refresh rate of 165Hz and a resolution of 1264p+, complemented by an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. A fast USB-C 3.1 Gen2 port with DisplayPort 1.4 allows for connection to external displays as well.

However, there are two areas where the Signature may not quite compete with top-tier flagships: the chipset and the camera system. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (non-Elite), a step below last year’s Elite variant, yet it remains a capable processor.

Regarding the camera setup, the Signature is equipped with four 50MP modules. The main camera features a sizable 1/1.28” sensor (Sony LYT-828), accompanied by a 3x/71mm telephoto lens with a 1/1.95” sensor and a 122° ultra-wide camera. The fourth module is a 21mm selfie camera with autofocus and an f/2.0 lens. While these cameras may not reach Ultra-grade quality, they offer larger sensors compared to the OnePlus 15.

Motorola's Hello UI is well-received, and the Smart Connect (formerly known as Ready For) feature offers a desktop mode. Moreover, the phone is guaranteed seven years of OS updates.
