Your Sneak Peek at the Revolutionary Siri Coming Soon
Apple is gearing up to unveil a groundbreaking update for Siri, the intelligent assistant we’ve all been waiting for. After a teaser release featuring British actress Bella Ramsey, anticipation is building for the official launch expected in March 2024. This article explores the exciting new capabilities of Siri and what users can expect from the upcoming iOS 26.4 update.
Apple has recently showcased a glimpse of what the new Siri can do, highlighted in an advertisement starring Bella Ramsey. In the ad, she embodies a relatable moment of forgetfulness, asking Siri to recall the name of someone she had met at a restaurant. Siri comes to the rescue, identifying the individual as Zac Wingate from Cafe Grenel, effectively resolving the situation.
Introducing Siri with iOS 26.4
The highly anticipated update will debut alongside iOS 26.4. Users have been on edge since the indefinite delay announced last March, but the revamped Siri is expected to launch in March 2024. There may even be opportunities to test out some new features before the official release.

For those enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program, iOS 26.4 Beta 1 will be available for installation by the end of this month. The new features will empower Siri to understand on-screen content, eliminating the need for users to detail their queries extensively. For instance, users can simply ask Siri to save an address displayed on their screen into their Contacts.

Exciting Features in iOS 26.4
Siri will also expand its capabilities across various applications. Users could command Siri to "Find the photo I took at the beach yesterday and send it to Suzanne." Similarly, users can ask about their mother's flight status, allowing Siri to scour Mail and Messages for the necessary information.
Anticipated Features of Siri in iOS 26.4
Users should note that Siri's newly enhanced features will depend on past messaging or email discussions; if no related context exists, Siri may still struggle to answer certain queries.
Additionally, this version of iOS will initiate Siri's transformation into a Large Language Model (LLM). The upgrade means Siri will no longer return simple links for general knowledge questions but will instead summarize responses more intelligently, akin to what Gemini and ChatGPT provide.
If the new features live up to expectations, users can look forward to the following capabilities:
- Understanding natural human conversation.
- Accessing personal data, with user permission, to provide tailored answers.
- Interpreting on-screen context from an iPhone to execute tasks across various apps.
- Delivering in-depth responses to inquiries.
- Completing more complex tasks currently beyond Siri's reach.
Apple's Opportunity for a Fresh Start with Siri
Over the years, I've utilized Siri alongside Google Assistant and Gemini as a full-fledged assistant on my mobile devices. Historically, Siri has fallen short, often prompting users to turn to alternatives like Google Assistant, Gemini, or similar AI applications. While using Gemini on my Pixel 6 Pro, I've experienced more fulfilling interactive responses.
Despite some occasional inaccuracies, I find AI assistants to be immensely beneficial. Apple must elevate Siri's capabilities to compete with established LLM alternatives. While the transition won't be instantaneous in iOS 26.4, it’s crucial for Apple to make positive strides with this update.
