We received our review unit, and here are our initial impressions of Huawei’s latest open wireless stereo (OWS) earbuds.

The FreeClip 2 and its charging case are significantly more compact than their predecessor. The earbuds measure 25.4 mm in height, 26.7 mm in width, and 18.8 mm in depth, with each earbud weighing only 5.1 grams. The “Comfort Bean,” which rests behind the ear, is also 11% smaller.

The case is 17% narrower and 14% lighter, weighing just under 39 grams, allowing it to fit into smaller pockets than the original FreeClip. Additionally, the new model features a fresh design that incorporates a micro-molding plastic material, and in our review unit, a stain-resistant denim-texture surface on the case.

The earbuds maintain the same C-bridge design, although the connecting wire is made from the same micro-molding textured plastic as the charging case. The earpiece that fits inside the ear canal features a glossy finish similar to the Comfort Bean that fits behind the ear helix.

Huawei claims that the FreeClip 2 delivers 100% stronger volume and air displacement compared to its predecessors, powered by 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm drivers, Huawei’s third-generation audio chip, and a dedicated NPU AI processor, which enables adaptive volume and voice enhancements. There are also six microphones distributed across the earbuds, which provide dedicated call noise cancellation.

The manufacturer is also confident that these earbuds can provide up to 9 hours of playtime, with a total battery life of 38 hours, which we will test further in our complete review.
