With the release of Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, in October, Nothing introduced a feature called Lock Glimpse, which essentially displays ads on the lock screen under a more appealing name. This feature has been available on the Nothing Phone (3a), Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, and Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, and it has generated considerable controversy. Users reported that while it was technically possible to disable the ads, the feature still consumed significant battery life.
Recently, Nothing announced that it is discontinuing its lock screen ads experiment, but with a caveat. Lock Glimpse will be removed from the Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, but it will still be present on the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite and future CMF devices.

If you're curious about why the Lite model is still affected, a representative from Nothing explained that "the context is different" for this device, noting that “to deliver strong overall value at a more accessible price, certain trade-offs apply.” Lock Glimpse will be disabled by default on the Lite model and can be easily removed as the company continues its efforts for improvement.
