vivo has officially launched two new budget-friendly 5G smartphones in China: the Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G. Both models boast a similar design and share numerous specifications, making them an appealing choice for consumers seeking affordable 5G options.
Both the vivo Y50s 5G and Y50e 5G are equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. Each phone features a 6.74-inch flat LCD display with a refresh rate of 90Hz, boasting an HD+ resolution and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.
On the rear, both devices are fitted with a 13MP primary camera, an infrared sensor, and an LED flash. Additionally, a breathing ring light is integrated into the camera module. For selfies and video calls, the devices are equipped with a 5MP front-facing camera located in a waterdrop notch.
The vivo Y50s and Y50e both feature impressive 6,000mAh batteries, although the Y50s supports faster 44W charging while the Y50e is limited to 15W charging capabilities.
Additional specifications include an IP64 rating, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. The devices run on Android 15-based OriginOS 5, measuring 8.19mm in thickness and weighing 204 grams.
The key distinction between the two models lies in their storage types. The vivo Y50s features UFS 2.2 storage, whereas the Y50e is equipped with eMMC 5.1 storage.
Regarding pricing, the vivo Y50s 5G starts at CNY 1,799 ($260) for the 6GB/256GB variant. It is also available in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB models priced at CNY 1,999 ($285) and CNY 2,299 ($330), respectively.
In contrast, the vivo Y50e 5G offers a single 6GB/128GB option, priced at CNY 1,499 ($215). Both smartphones come in Diamond, Platinum, and Sky Blue color variants.
