Introduction
Oppo showcased several remarkable smartphones in 2025, but many of these models remain China-exclusive, leaving international consumers enviously window shopping. Nonetheless, Oppo did manage to release impressive devices globally. Here are the key winners and losers from the past year.
Winners: Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro
The Find X9 Pro is described as "almost too good to be true." Our review confirmed that this versatile flagship features the second-best battery life we have ever tested and commendable charging speed.
Moreover, the Pro is equipped with an exceptional camera system, including a large 1/1.28” main sensor and a remarkable 200MP 70mm periscope lens. While the optional Teleconverter Kit is intriguing, it comes at a substantial price. The Dimensity 9500 chip performs admirably, although it would benefit from improved cooling for extended gaming sessions.
The Oppo Find X9 offers a compact version of the Pro (6.59” vs. 6.78”) with some downgraded rear camera features, yet it still boasts a solid 50MP trio. Its more affordable price makes it an appealing option for those who might find the Pro model out of reach.

Loser: Oppo Find X8 Ultra
The Oppo Find X8 Ultra introduced several significant upgrades this year, including enhanced autofocus on the 3x telephoto camera and a larger sensor partnered with a brighter lens for the 6x telephoto camera. It also retained the impressive 1”-type sensor in the main camera, improved battery life, and fast charging speeds.
Oppo Find X8 UltraThis model was hailed as one of the top camera phones for both still photography and video in 2025. However, it largely remained unavailable to international buyers since Oppo chose not to release the Ultra outside of China this year, limiting its sales potential and depriving global consumers of a truly impressive camera. Perhaps next year will bring a wider release.
Winner: Oppo Find N5
After expressing disappointment last year over the absence of a Find N3 successor, we welcomed the arrival of the Oppo Find N5. Although it is a year late and slightly larger than anticipated, it stands out as one of the finest foldable phones of 2025.
Oppo Find N5The sleek 8.9mm frame houses an enduring 5,600mAh battery. Its 6.62” cover display is larger than desired (the N3 had a 6.31” display), but both it and the 8.12” main display are outstanding. The camera system features a 50MP 1/1.56” main sensor and a 50MP 3x/75mm telephoto lens—an exciting development for foldable devices, which often struggle in this area. However, the 8MP ultra-wide camera was somewhat disappointing. Additionally, the choice of a lower-binned Snapdragon 8 Elite for such a premium device was less than ideal. Nevertheless, the nearly invisible crease and superb connectivity help the N5 stand out.

Winner: Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro
In our hands-on with the Oppo K13 Turbo Pro, we noted that while the active cooling fan did not significantly improve benchmark results, it positively impacted stability during 3DMark’s 20-minute Wild Life Extreme Stress Test—boosting from 50% to 85% while keeping the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 cooler.
A close-up of Oppo K13 Turbo Pro’s cooling fanThe Oppo K13 Turbo is essentially identical but features a Dimensity 8450 chipset instead. Unfortunately, we haven’t tested this variant yet. Nonetheless, with RedMagic dominating the actively-cooled gaming smartphone segment, more competition is welcome.

Losers: Oppo Reno15 and Reno15 Pro (global versions)
Can a phone truly be excellent if it remains unavailable for purchase? The Oppo Reno15 and Reno15 Pro were announced for the Chinese market in mid-November, yet international consumers are still left waiting for news of a global release. While we consider these models to be winners, troubling developments have surfaced.
Oppo Reno15Rumors suggest that the global versions of the Reno15 might differ significantly from the Chinese models. The Chinese Reno15 features a compact 6.32” display and a 6,200mAh battery—ideal for those seeking a smaller device. In contrast, the global version is expected to increase the display size to 6.59” and replace the 200MP main camera with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, resulting in a downgrade for both the Reno15 and Reno15 Pro. As this information remains speculative, we await the official announcement, reportedly set for February.
We were hoping for competition against the upcoming vivo X300 FE, and while a compact Find X9s may be in the works to contend with the vivo X300, it likely won’t arrive until the end of the month.
Winner: ColorOS 16
The new glossy appearance of Oppo’s Android 16-based OS may appear derivative, but the user interface is distinct from Liquid Glass. The software has received significant refinement, resulting in a smooth user experience.
Additionally, it offers increased customization options and a wealth of AI features. Although there is a general aversion to AI, practical tools such as AI Speak, AI VoiceScribe, and AI Translate prove their value.
