Following the European Union's lead, several countries worldwide are pressuring Apple to open its tightly controlled ecosystem. Most recently, Brazil has secured an agreement with Apple, enabling iPhone users to download and purchase apps and digital services outside the official App Store.

Apple reached this deal with Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), which had been investigating the company over these practices. The council has now approved Apple's proposed measures, giving the company 105 days to implement changes allowing alternative purchasing methods on iOS in Brazil.
