Samsung Galaxy S26 Series May Feature Advanced Satellite Voice Call Capabilities

While nothing has been officially confirmed, recent developments hint that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series could introduce satellite voice call functionality. The hype began with the announcement of the Samsung Exynos 2600 chip, the industry's first built on a 2nm process. This chip is rumored to power the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 and possibly the S26 lineup in select markets.

Initially, Samsung remained silent about the modem integrated with the Exynos 2600. However, new information has surfaced regarding the Exynos Modem 5410, which might be included in the Exynos 2600 package. This modem combines LTE DTC, NB IoT NTN, and NR NTN technologies into a single chip.

NB IoT NTN, or NarrowBand Internet of Things Non-Terrestrial Networks, supports low-data transmissions such as location tracking or text messaging. It operates reliably even in remote areas like deserts or oceans and has certification from Skylo.

More notably, LTE DTC (Long Term Evolution Direct to Cell) offers enhanced satellite communication capabilities, including voice calls. Additionally, NR NTN (New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks) promises higher data throughput, potentially enabling satellite video calls in the future.

Although there is no official confirmation that the Exynos Modem 5410 will be used in the Galaxy S26 series, it is positioned as one of Samsung’s most premium modems. Manufactured using an advanced 4nm EUV process, it is based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard and supports 5G NR dual connectivity across FR1 sub-6GHz and FR2 mmWave frequencies. The modem also boasts peak download speeds up to 14.79Gbps.
