Huawei Launches nova 15 Series: New Dual-Ring Design, Enhanced Cameras, and Powerful Kirin Chipsets

Huawei has officially unveiled its nova 15 series in China, introducing three new midrange smartphones: the nova 15, nova 15 Pro, and nova 15 Ultra. The lineup features Huawei's new "dual-ring" design aesthetic, alongside upgraded cameras, faster processors, and larger batteries.

The nova 15 Ultra and nova 15 Pro share several key specifications, including a 6.84-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,320 x 2,856 pixels and an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate. The screens deliver up to 4,000 nits peak local brightness and are protected by durable Kunlun glass. Both models feature a pill-shaped cutout housing a 50MP front camera paired with a 1.5MP multispectral sensor.

The rear showcases Huawei’s new dual-ring camera design. The nova 15 Ultra boasts three 50MP RYYB sensors, including a primary lens with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical image stabilization (OIS). It also offers a telephoto periscope lens with 3.7x optical zoom and an ultra-wide lens with a 118-degree field of view.

The nova 15 Pro features a 50MP RYYB main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS, complemented by a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens and a 13MP RYYB ultra-wide sensor. Both the nova 15 Ultra and Pro come with IP68 and IP69 certifications, ensuring resistance against water and dust.

Powering both phones is Huawei's new Kirin 9010S chipset, delivering an 18% performance improvement compared to the Kirin 8020 used in their predecessors. Both models support satellite connectivity and run on HarmonyOS 6.0 out of the box.

Battery capacity is substantial, with both devices equipped with 6,500mAh silicon carbon batteries and 100W wired charging. The nova 15 Ultra also supports 50W wireless charging.

The standard nova 15 sports a 6.7-inch OLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It features a single punch-hole for the 50MP selfie camera. On the rear, it includes a 50MP RYYB primary camera, a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral color sensor.

The nova 15 is powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset—the same SoC found in the nova 14 Pro and nova 14 Ultra—offering up to 42% better performance compared to the nova 14’s Kirin 8000 chip. It also supports satellite connectivity.

The device runs HarmonyOS 6.0 and houses a 6,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging. Additionally, it maintains IP65 ingress protection.
