Google's Pixel 10 series offers several exclusive software features, including Magic Cue. A new report reveals that Google plans to bring this functionality to all Android devices under the name Contextual Suggestions.
As the name suggests, this feature provides helpful suggestions based on your routine activities and locations. For example, your music app might recommend a playlist you typically listen to during your evening gym sessions, or your device may suggest casting sports games to your living room TV on Saturdays, just as you often do.
How Contextual Suggestions Work
According to available screenshots, these suggestions operate within an encrypted environment on your phone. The data used to generate suggestions never leaves your device and is not shared with apps or Google, unless you choose to share it. Users can delete this data at any time, and by default, it is automatically removed after 60 days.
The system collects device activity and location data in the encrypted space where an AI analyzes this information to make personalized predictions. While apps and services cannot access the underlying data, they can leverage AI-generated predictions to offer timely and relevant suggestions.
Currently, Contextual Suggestions are appearing for a limited number of users in the latest Google Play Services beta. However, it is not yet widely available for all beta testers, indicating it is still in a testing phase. When accessible, the feature can be found in Settings > Google (or Google services) > All services > Others.
